Overturned vehicle carrying Syrians who illegally entered Lebanese Territory, during their arrest in Al Sheikh Lar - Akkar

The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On the night of 16-17/07/2024, during an attempt by an army patrol to arrest 16 Syrians inside a 4x4 vehicle after they had illegally entered Lebanese territory in the Al Sheikh Lar - Akkar, the driver (W.Sh.) tried to flee from the patrol, leading to the vehicle overturning. Those inside were transported to hospitals in the area for treatment, and shortly after, the driver and one of the injured persons passed away.
The investigation with the arrestees was initiated under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
